The Peril Ranch was established by James A. and William A. Peril (father and son) in 1861. William A. Peril was born in Benton County, Mo., in 1845 and moved to Burnet County, Texas, with his parents in 1858, where he resided with his parents until 1861. They then moved and established the current ranch in Gillespie County, Texas. The ranch is still owned and operated by descendants of James A. Peril. This ranch has been established since Abraham Lincoln was president and has been in continuous operation by the same family for over 150 years.
